In 1986, Chuck Hull invented the 3D printing, it is the process of transforming a digital 3D model to a physical object with three dimensional. The creation of a 3D printed it's a result of using additive processes which created t the object by laying down successive layers of the material until the creation of the object and you can see each of these layers.
The Process of the 3D printing starts with create your design of the object you want to create. This virtual design is made in a CAD (Computer Aided Design) file using a 3D modeling program and that's for the creation of a totally new object or with the use of a 3D scanner if you want to copy an existing object. A 3D scanner makes a 3D digital copy of an object. 3D scanners use different technologies to generate a 3D model like time of flight, structured, volumetric scanning and many others technologies.
As of late, numerous IT companies like Microsoft and Google enabled their hardware to perform 3D scanning, an extraordinary case is Microsoft’s Kinect. I consider this is a clear sign that future hand-held devices like smartphones will have integrated 3d scanners soon. Transforming a real objects into 3d models get to be as simple as taking a photo.
Not all 3D printers utilize the same technology. There are many ways to print and all those available are additive, differing mainly in the way layers are build to made the final object.
A few techniques use melting or softening material to produce the layers. Selective laser sintering (SLS) and fused deposition modeling (FDM) are consider as the most common technologies using this way of printing. There is another method of printing is when we talk about curing a photo reactive resin with a UV laser or another similar power source one layer at a time. The most common technology using this method is called stereo lithography (SLA).
Since 2010, the ASTM ( American Society for Testing and Materials) , developed a set of standards that classify the Additive Manufacturing processes into 7 categories according to Standard Terminology for Additive Manufacturing Technologies and that's the seven Process :
Vat Photopolymerisation
Material Jetting
Binder Jetting
Material Extrusion
Powder Bed Fusion
Sheet Lamination
Directed Energy Deposition
3D printing permits thoughts to develop faster than any time before, imagine that you are able to print a concept in the same day that it was designed. You are able to verify every design before investing it in an expensive modeling and that's can builds confidence before you making any large investments. Is indeed the best method for the designer and for everyone who has a wild imagination and wants to make ideas, thoughts or dreams real with a simple process.
Sure you want to know which 3D Printer is the best. I will answer for this question right now and I will give the top of the 3D Printer and which one can give you the high quality.
- Makergear M2
The Makergear M2 is a well-designed and reliable 3D printer that our community has ranked as the top 3D printer for enthusiasts for two consecutive years now. Founded in 2009, Makergear manufactures its 3rd generation M2 3D printers in Beachwood, Ohio.
- LulzBot TAZ 5
LulzBot TAZ is already at its 5th generation model, and even though the looks remain largely unchanged, users will find tons of updates under the hood. LulzBot, who are famous for being a huge proponent of open-source innovation, are constantly building and improving upon their 3D printers together with their community.
- DeltaWASP
Introducing the Ferrari of 3D printers, straight from the heart of Italy. The DeltaWASP is a gorgeously designed machine that uses a Delta style robot system instead of the traditional Cartesian style system used by most other FDM 3D printers. This sleek design offers a high printing speed and increased positioning accuracy, which results in smoother curves.
And if you want to do your own design you can use of the software of 3D such as Blender, SketchUp, Rhino and many others which can make you do what you want and make your thoughts in reality.
